Zeytin

It is the name of our cat. Originally she was called “Siren”. We tried “Nez-Noir” but found it to hard to pronounce, so we called her Zeytin because of her black nose.

If I see her sleeping, I utter “Zeyti-Pleyti”, “Honca”, “Meiti”, “Plunçı” or so. How does she understand all these names? Because she slowly opens her eyes, when she hears me. No, she does not understand, she just hears the intonation and she gets the thoughts in them: “My sweet, we took you from Gümüşlük many years ago, you were friend with Sütlaç, now you’ve grown old but still you mess around and your hair is to be found everywhere…”, and happily she sleeps on.
